One of the major arguments in the MLB is the subject of bat flipping. Some of the MLB players are arguing the "unwritten rule" of no bat flipping after a home run. One major figure in baseball, (Bryce Harper) clearly shows his resent for the anti-bat flipping critics. He believes baseball is getting boring. He also is stating that he will make baseball "fun" again. The exact topic of this blog. Will bat-flipping make the game more fun and exciting again? I looked online the pros and cons of bat flipping in the game, and found mixed results. If you are not familiar of what a "bat-flip" is let me explain. It is when a batter smashes a ball into orbit, and to celebrate throw his bats out of his hands. The gesture is more like a, "HA! Hit that one ya idiot." Many batter believe that it is their natural right as a hitter to show off to the pitcher with a bat-flip. Many old baseball critics shun this because it violates the unwritten rules of baseball. It's in Section 23, Line 23- No bat-flipping after a home-run or the ghost of Babe Ruth will haunt you forever. I believe the batter DOES have a right to bat-flip. Even as a pitcher, the batter does have the right to bat-flip. The pitcher served up a juicy pitch and the batter smashed it to Mars. You got to take whatever he does, and suck-it-up. When I strike someone out, I have the right to fist-pump or scream into my glove. It comes with the intensity of the game. The bat-flipping is also getting promoted by the MLB. They know as well as I know that it is a new and good marketing tool. Kids are now bat-flipping because it is "cool" and their favorite players do it. (Turbow). The MLB realizes they are not getting the viewers they used to, and they need to bring them back with something, bat-flipping. I believe bat-flipping with make baseball more fun and help the popularity.
